An eye-catching title slide for a construction-themed presentation. The main text reads "High School Gets Improvements" in large, dark, bold letters over a white background. The slide has a strong construction theme with a black and yellow warning stripe pattern at the top and bottom. A bright yellow excavator dominates the right side. In the background, there are faint, gray silhouettes of cranes and a partially constructed building. Other construction elements include a pile of dirt and rocks, a warning sign, and striped barricades. A rectangular, yellow sign blank for text is dangling from the top left.

Carlyle High School saw major improvements over the summer throughout the building.

According to Superintendent Annie Gray, the main priority for this project has been

safety at the high school.

A sprinkler system was installed throughout the building, and all classrooms now have

secure doors.

Gray said these improvements are essential for protecting our students and staff.

Other improvements that were completed at the high school include new ceilings and

lights in many classrooms, air conditioning in the gym, an additional science lab, and the new

track and athletic field.

Science teacher Jill Crump moved classrooms, and as a part of the new science lab, she

now has a sink and cabinets.

“(The improvements) allow me to have wet labs now,” said Crump, “Students can now

use chemicals, which enhances their learning, and can do a lab with every chapter.”

Many of the improvements have been in the planning stages for a number of years.

Several updates were completed at the Grade School during the summer of 2024, and the

work at the high school was a part of the second and much larger phase, which included work at

all three buildings.

“I’m very pleased with how everything has turned out so far, and we are now in the final

stages of the summer 2025 scope of work,” Gray said, “Once completed, our school will be both

safer and better prepared to serve students for many years to come.”
