Carlyle High School homecoming court and theme was announced last week. The annual

event, which will be held on Oct. 18 in the Harriss Gymnasium, will be designed around the

theme Take Me to Rio.

The gym will be transformed into Rio by using decorations with bright colors, feathers,

and other items with a tropical aesthetic.

The theme was selected by student council members during their annual, two-day kickoff

meeting, which was held during the first week of August.

“We decided the theme by putting any and all ideas up on a white board, and as a whole

the student council voted out which ones we did not want,” senior student council and queen

candidate Tessa Hoffmann said, “We had around 15 or so to begin with, and we narrowed it

down to Rio.”

In addition to Hoffmann, other queen candidates include Kyra Beckemeyer, Meghan

Edwards, Addison Gansauer, Madison Schomaker, and Abigail Steinkamp.

King candidates include Ethan Brinkmann, Gavin Gammon, Zack Persing, Jonathan

Schmitt, Grayson Strader, and Aiden Wooters.

Junior court members include Alivia Allison, Jacie Bosler, Amelia Eller, Landry

Steinkamp, Reggie Dakhoul, Logan Dall, Cooper Diekemper, and Blake Johnson.

Sophomore court members include Caybri Pollmann, McKenna Salyers, Jordan Allison,

and Kendon Marcketti.

Freshman court members include Aubri Edwards, Jayli Sparks, Bently Davis, and Wyatt

Gebke.

Court pages are Maisyn Butts and Brooks Behrens, and emcees are Avery Self and

Alannah Sarclette.

The homecoming parade is planned for October 15, with line-up near the Carlyle Grade

School once again.

“I’m chair of the parade for student council, so I spend a lot of time sorting through

candy in preparation for the event,” said junior court member Cooper Diekemper, “but being in

the parade is what I am most excited about.”

Since he is on court, Diekemper will join the other court members as they ride through

the parade route.

Court members will wrap up the week by being a part of coordination during the dance

on Oct. 18.
