Carlyle High School started a cross-country program this school year.

The prospective students on the team approached English teacher and track coach Patty

Heiman about coaching the team since she ran in high school and college.

“Coach Heiman has taught me a lot through cross country and track that I will use in

future situations,” said junior Payton Scheitlin.

Other participating students include Rileigh Blankenship, Adilyn Diekemper, Gracie

Lindsey, Braxton Johnson, and Benson Schmeink.

The team meets before school to practice each day and will participate in at least six

meets this season.
