Tammy Gerstenecker's eighth-hour Wildlife class had the opportunity to hear from local
game warden and conservation officer Roberto Macias on Monday, Oct. 28.
Macias covered general knowledge for youth hunters and safety tips and explained why
hunting is important.
He also discussed the benefits, requirements, and opportunities someone would have
when going into this career field.
Near the end of the visit, Macias allowed students to ask questions about anything he
discussed.
Students asked questions regarding different hunting criteria. requirements, and if he had
any stories from his job.
“I learned that conservation officers are very busy, and that they do a lot more than what
is usually seen,” junior Addison Golding said.
Gerstenecker said having students get first hand information from an experienced
Conservation Police Officer in our area allows proper education and expectations to help protect
and conserve our wildlife environment.
