Please join us for a send-off parade for local veterans attending the Honor Flight trip!
The Honor Flight Network is a national nonprofit organization with the enormous privilege of showing our nation’s veterans the appreciation and honor they deserve.
Participation in an Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C., allows veterans to share this momentous occasion with other comrades, remember the fallen, and share their stories and experiences with other veterans. Thanks to generous donations to the organization, honored veterans always travel free of charge.
Locally, approximately 90 veterans from the Clinton County area will travel on the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight out of Springfield, IL, this October and next April.
Students at Carlyle Grade School have been preparing cards to deliver to our local veterans during in-flight “Mail Call.” In addition to this experience, there will be a send-off celebration to add to the glory of this flight experience. This amazing send-off celebration will take place on Monday, October 14, to build on the anticipation and excitement for the Honor Flight experience.
Families may line up along Old Route 50 on October 14 in support of these local veterans and their guardians as we send them off to Springfield, IL, for their flight early Tuesday morning. The parade will leave Standin’ Proud Veterans Tribute Museum in Bartelso at approximately 12:45 p.m. and head East on Slant Rd to Carlyle, North on Route 127, and then West on Old Route 50 from Carlyle to Trenton. We hope our community has an outstanding turnout celebrating these veterans.

The 2024 Carlyle Homecoming Parade is happening on Wednesday, October 9th, starting at 6:10 PM! 🎉✨ The parade kicks off and wraps up at Carlyle Grade School. Check out the attached map for the parade route. We can't wait to see you there! 💜💛🏈
