On Saturday February 24th, multiple band and choir students participated in Illinois Grade School Music Association Solo & Ensemble hosted at Highland Middle School. Each student prepared and performed a solo that was then judged and rated. We had everyone receive an Excellent (I) or Superior (IS) rating performance! We had three individuals that scored a perfect score, Brody Clifford (trombone), Titus King (snare), and McKenna Salyers( vocal). They each received ribbons for their performance. What better way to learn about tectonic plate boundaries than with frosting, graham crackers, and fruit strips?! Ms. Evans’s 8th graders were 100% engaged in yesterdays lesson, for obvious reasons!
