Good afternoon!
Carlyle Junior High students will be coming home today with their report cards for 1st semester.

8th grade parents mark your calendars for Wednesday, February 1st. Kaskaskia College will be coming to talk to 8th graders and their parents about Career Pathways and dual credit opportunities in high school. The program starts at 6:00 p.m. and refreshments will be provided!

How important is it to shorten your showers or turn off the water while brushing your teeth? The answer is... VERY important! Mrs. Runge’s science class made educated guesses today and then compared their hypothesis to actual percentages of usable fresh water, water in glaciers, groundwater, and salt water.

Reminder-Carlyle CUSD #1 is still seeking applicants for a District Bookkeeper (Payroll/Human Resources). Please see our website for additional information: https://www.carlyle.k12.il.us/page/employment

One of Mrs. Runge’s favorite grade school memories was when she created an alien out of recycled materials. She decided she wanted to give her science enrichment students the same experience. The students created an Interplanetary Space Commission Passport for their alien and learned many interesting facts about their planet of residency before creating their masterpiece. The students then presented their aliens to classmates. Congratulations to Serenity McCray for winning the challenge.

Congratulations to the CJHS Boys Basketball team! They won 1st place in the Clinton County Conference Tournament!

Congrats to Mrs. Watts' Tribe Time. They were the winners of the Christmas Door Decorating Contest sponsored by Student Council
Mr. Wolf's tribe time placed 2nd!

Have a tree that needs decorations? Look no further than creating our own ornaments while learning about 3D objects (another of our standards)...students spent time coloring prisms and pyramids to trim our classroom tree...it's a new tradition for us, but one I plan on continuing in the years to come!!

Mrs. Kampwerth's 7th grade ELA students spent last week learning about the history of Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. They read Balloons Over Broadway, and spent yesterday creating their own balloons! Today at CJHS the 7th graders had their own Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade! Happy Thanksgiving from our Tribe here at CJHS!!

Good afternoon! CJHS students will be coming home with a paper copy of their mid-term report for 2nd quarter today. The 2nd quarter ends on December 21st. Reminder that there is no school Wed-Fri this week in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Enjoy your break and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

What better way to work on review concepts in math than having a glow party? I have a feeling this won't be a one time thing...the kids seem to be having a blast while they are reviewing previous concepts in Mrs. Kuhl's class!!
